Neurological Disorders
Neurological disorders affect the central and peripheral nervous systems, including the brain, spine, and connecting nerves. Common disorders may include Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Migraine, Epilepsy, and Traumatic injuries. These disorders can also result from infections like tuberculosis, meningitis, and HIV, as well as parasitic infections.
Various risk factors contribute to the development of neurological diseases, including genetics, age, substance abuse, poor diet, physical inactivity, and environmental factors like pollution and head injuries.
According to Ayurveda, the brain is considered the seat of “Majja Dhatu,” one of the seven essential tissues in the body. Majja Dhatu is responsible for various functions related to the nervous system and bone marrow, and imbalances in this dhatu are believed to contribute to neurological disorders.
